Doha Metro train does test run on red line

Doha, Qatar: Motorists driving to Al Wakra from Doha are excited to see the trial run by Doha Metro train along the red line.

The social media in Qatar is abuzz with videos and pictures of the trail run being shared by everyone.

The trains have been running at different times during the day from Al Wakra station to Economic Zone station covering Ras Bu Fontas station in front of Barwa Village.

The Red Line, also known as the Coast Line, runs for about 40 kilometres from Al Wakra in the south to Lusail in the north. The line also connects Hamad International Airport at Terminal 1 to the centre of the city. It has 18 stations with the Legtaifiya Station allowing passengers to transfer over to the Lusail Tram.

These trains will be one of the fastest driverless trains in the world, reaching a speed of 100 km per hour, when they start operations.

The train will have state-of-the-art technology with unique interior and 75 such custom made trains will be delivered to Doha Metro.

The first phase of the Doha Metro is expected to be complete in 2020, when the project’s 37 metro stations are expected to be operative, with an average journey time of two minutes between adjacent stations.

The first four trains of Doha Metro arrived at Hamad Port in August two months ahead of schedule.
Doha Metro train will consist of three cars, one of which will be for Gold and Family Class and two for Standard class and Gold will have 16 seats, family 26 seats and standard 88 seats.

A metro station would be opened this month and a train would be ready for public display. The second batch of the metro vehicles had arrived in Doha, while the third is on the way.

A center would be opened to introduce children to public transport and its importance in the community.
