Elders express concern over Bossaso security lax

The elders in Puntland’s seaport, Bossaso have express concern over the deteriorating security of the town amid the town has witnessed well coordinated assassinations against Puntland officials.

In a meeting held a days after Al-Shabaab killed Puntland’s military prosecutor, the elders condemned the recent killings in the town carried out by masked gunmen suspected to be Al-Shabaab members.

One of the elder has called on Puntland government take actions to prevent series of assassinations which is targeting government officials in Bossaso city.

Last week, Puntland’s military prosecutor, Yussuf Abdi Shire has died of wounds following gunshots by unknown assailants.

In similarly attacks, third deputy commander of Puntland Police Forces and the Director of Presidential Palace in Bossaso town were killed in the town.

In all incidents, gunmen were reported to flee the scene following the crime. 

Night time curfew has been imposed in Bossaso town as security forces were pursing the perpetrators.

Puntland recaptured the ancient town of Qandala, from the pro-daesh Somali militant group in November.
