Senate to pick speaker and deputies today

GOOBJOOG NEWS/MOGADISHU: The Senate is today expected to hold the election of the speaker and two deputies at the Afisyoni tent in Mogadishu.

The Speaker of the Upper House will be contested by the ex-Speaker of the Upper House Abdi Hashi Abdillahi, Minister of Constitution Senator Salah Ahmed Jama and Minister of Information Senator Osman Abukar Dubbe.

The first deputy speaker position is being contested by two senators namely; Senator Abdihakin Maalim Ahmed and Senator Ali Shabaan Ibrahim, while up to seven candidates will run for the post of second deputy position. 

The Lower House is also scheduled to hold the election of the Speaker and two deputies tomorrow, April 27.
