The federal government of Somalia stated that the offensive military operations in some regions of the country will not stop until Al-shabab will be uprooted.

National security minister Khalif Ahmed Ereg said Indian Ocean operations will continue until all the areas under al-shabab will come back to the government’s hand.

The Minister urged the Somali nationals in Mogadishu and other major cities to be attentive and avoid possible attacks of al-shabab group.

He added that government forces are vigilant to prevent security threats in all parts of the country.

His remark comes after Pentagon on Friday confirmed the death of the leader of al-Shabab, Ahmed Abdi Godane, who was the target of a U.S. airstrike Monday in Somalia.

The Pentagon’s press secretary, Rear Adm. John Kirby, confirmed the death in a brief written statement.
