Ethiopian PM claims ‘white and black’ boots fighting alongside TPLF

GOOBJOOG NEWS|ADDIS ABABA: Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has claimed foreigners are fighting alongside Tigray Defence Forces in the ongoing battle in the northern regions of the country.

Speaking for the first time since the strategic towns of Kombolcha and Dessie fell in the hands of the TDF, Ahmed said there were foreign fighters in the battle.

“There were white and black people who fought along the TPLF [Tigrayan People’s Liberation Front] and died,” said Ahmed. He did not however give more information about the allegations. TPLF has however dismissed the claims.

TPLF presidential advisor Getachew Reda dismissed the claims noting the PM (Abiy) was ‘clinically insane.’

Abiy Ahmed administration has however been accused of enlisting Eritrea forces and Somalis who were undergoing military training in Eritrea.

The embattled Ethiopian leader also said his government was employing a  ‘new strategy to repulse the incursion by the outlawed force’  and that ‘Ethiopia is in a better position to win the war’.

TDF forces captured Kombolcha and Dessie on October 31.
