Expectant woman among those killed in attack on Jubaland official residence
GOOBJOOG NEWS/KISMAYO: More details are emerging from a car explosion in the coastal city of Kismayo, the capital of Lower Jubba region, which targeted a senior Jubaland official.
The explosion targeted the residence of the Kismayo Port operations chief located in the Farjano neighborhood, in particular the Sinai sub-district.
The blast killed at least two people, including an expectant woman and her child- a son, and injured a 14-year-old boy, belonging to the same household.
According to the Jubaland security ministry spokesman Jama Ahmed Ali (Joofane), the dead and wounded are members of the family of the Jubaland official.
Jubaland troops carried out operations immediately after the incident, with an initial swoop said to have nabbed more than 20 people.
The motive of the killings is not yet known, but authorities in Jubaland have said they will leave no stone unturned in a bid to bring to justice the perpetrators of the heinous act.
