Explosion targets FEIT member, two soldiers killed

GOOBJOOG NEWS/JOWHAR:  A landmine blast targeting the life of a member of the Federal Electoral Commission (FEIT) went off this morning in Jowhar, the capital of Hirshabelle.

The blast targeted a vehicle carrying one of FEIT’s members,  Eng. Mahad Omar Abdi, as he was traveling between Jowhar town and the town’s airport.

Eng. Mahad is said to have survived the blast but two of his bodyguards were killed and another was injured and was rushed to Jowhar hospital for emergency treatment.

Hirshabelle Police arrived at the scene of the blast and removed the bodies of the two soldiers and conducted an initial search on the road between Jowhar town and the airport.
