Joint parliamentary committees to table Kenya wall report today

The joint Interior and Foreign Relations parliamentary committees will today table findings based on investigations over allegations Kenya had encroached on Somalia’s territory in the ongoing wall construction

 

MP Mohamed Omar said that the parliament expected to gate full report of what happened at border between Kenya and Somalia. “The house will reach concrete decision immediately it gets reliable information about the borderline by fact-finding committee,” said Omar.

On 16th this month, the joint committees visited Bulahawo town in Gedo region to ascertain claims of encroachment after parliament dropped its 48 hour ultimatum to the committees to come up with a bill to sanction Kenya.

Defense Minister Abdulkadir Ali Dini who accompanied the committee members told the media they had not found any information to suggest encroachment by Kenya contrary to earlier reports that citing encroachment.

Last year Somali government filed 150-page court filing on Somalia’s maritime border dispute with Kenya at the International Court of Justice at The Hague.
