Man stabs victim after failed rape attempt in Baledweyne
A man has stabbed and seriously wounded a forty year old woman after failing in his attempt to rape her, medics and the victim said on Tuesday.
The suspect who attempted to rape the woman was reportedly armed with knife.
According to the victim, the man attacked her when she was fetching firewood in the outskirts of Beledweyne town in central Somalia.
When she resisted, the man pulled out the knife and stabbed her several times before fleeing.
The victim was taken to Beledweyn Hospital for treatment.
The incident comes barely a week after authorities in Galdogob town arrested five men accused of raping two girls.
The arrested of the suspects came after a video of one of the girls being tortured, stabbed and sexually assaulted went viral on social media.
The video was recorded on a cell phone camera by the attackers, according the local officials.
