The outgoing President Mohamed Farmaajo has jetted to Addis Ababa, the for the inauguration of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed following his re-election in July.

Villa Somalia spokesman Abdirashid Hashi said Farmaajo would be attending in the inauguration ceremony to form the new Ethiopian government and is thereafter expected to meet with Abiy Ahmed Ali.

Farmajo was accompanied by a delegation of government officials to attend the inauguration of his close ally whom together with Eritrea’s strong man Isaias Afwerki formed the so-called Horn Alliance in 2018.

The Addis Ababa trip is Farmaajo’s first official tour out of the country since April 25th, when skirmishes rocked Mogadishu capital when he announced his two-year illegal extension as president of the Federal State of Somalia.

Abiy Ahmed was re-elected in a controversial vote in July which was largely boycotted by the opposition as instability rocked the country following unrest in the Oromia region and the ongoing conflict in Tigray.
