Farmaajo’s opponent Sen. Abdi Hashi retains Senate Speaker seat

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Senator Abdi Hashi, a critic of outgoing President Mohamed Farmaajo has been re-elected speaker of the Upper House.

Senator Hashi garnered 28 votes beating his closest rival Constitutional affairs Minister Salah Jama who got 24 votes.

Information Minister Osman Dube came a distant third with a paltry two votes.

Election for first and second deputy continues.
