GOOBJOOG NEWS|BOSASO: The tussle over the fate of Puntland Security Forces ()PSF) leadership has taken a new twist after two senior leaders from the region clashed over the resolution of the ongoing feuds that have spiralled into deadly fighting.

Former Puntland President Abdirahman Faroole Thursday accused former Prime Minister Omar Sharmarke of dishonesty for distancing himself from a resolution of clan elders from Bosaso.

In their statement, the clan elders resolved among other issues that sacked PSF commandant General Mohamed Diano be reinstated. But Sharmarke fired back accusing the elders of including him as part of the team noting he did not support he position.

I make it clear that I have not been consulted and that I am not a party to this Statement,” the former PM said.

In a rejoinder, Senator Farole said Sharmarke was not a genuine broker. “Omar or his associates should not talk about politics anymore. He should not be seen looking for a prime minister,” Faroole said in a public forum.

Negotiations led by former Puntland leaders including Ali Gaas have not borne fruit as both sides maintain a tough stance.

President Abdullahi Deni has insisted Diano must leave the force but his clan has stood ground.

Deni fired Diano on November 24 spiralling a crisis within PSF which resulted in heavy fighting in December.
