Federal government deports 2 forein journalist from Mogadishu

The federal government of Somalia has on Tuesday deported two foreign Journalists, a Ugandan and a Ghanaian from Mogadishu.

Assistant minister for information Abdullahi Olad Robleh confirmed to the media the banishment of the journalists.

The government has stopped training they were to conduct in Mogadishu and were accused journalists of staying in the country illegally.

The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ), an independent journalists union that represents legally the Somali journalists and the Somali Independent Houses Association (SIMHA) welcomed the government move to deport the foreign journalists.

Both NUSOJ and SIMHA believe that the foreign journalists were trying to divide Somali journalists by creating by creating confusion and conflict within Somali media.
