Federal Government privatizes National Depots

Somali government has handed over management of the national fuel depot to  private entrepreneurs .

This was announced by Somali president Hassan Sheikh during ceremony cut ribbon of a multi-million invested project which implemented by local investors from Somali Fuel Company.

The entrepreneurs were granted the control of fuel deposits in the country which will be ran as private.

Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud speaking at the ceremony praised the project and said many doubted such project feasibility in the country “This is a quality project that needs to be protected by the government… Somali investors are always looking after the Interest of the country” he said.

The 20-million implemented project consists of seven large storage tanks which can store 73,000000 million litres (7,300Metric Cubic) and number of inlet and outlet pipes which extend 700 meters.

The inauguration ceremony of the depots were attended by members cabinet, traders, and dignitaries.

The alarms of  privatization of Public Facilities

Several leases and awards by Federal government to private individuals/companies raised concerns and dissatisfaction among the public. Somali Federal Parliament did not conclude the laws that supposed to guide and regulate these matters while the government continues the surge to privatize an important public assists.

Senior government official who preferred his identity to be kept anonymous told Goobjoog news that Somali president is responsible the leases of important public sites, either to pacify his opponents or to obtain finical gains.
