Federal polls body elects new chairman

Goobjoog News/ Mogadishu: The Federal Electoral Implementation Team (FEIT) has elected Muse Gelle Yusuf as the new chairman of the polls body following the removal of  Mohamed Hassan Irro over allegations of bias and incompetence.

The position of chair was fiercely contested by two candidates, Muse Gelleh Yusuf, a close associate of Prime Minister Roble and Abdirahman Abdiaziz Aden.

Muse Gelle Yusuf was elected as the new chairman of the Federal Electoral Commission after garnering 14 votes, while Abdirahman Abdiaziz received 11 votes.

Muse Gelle, who has previously served as the interim chairman of the Electoral Commission, steps into the shoes of Mohamed Hassan Irro, who was sacked in December.
