Former minister: the death of Godane will pave way for the government to maintain the security of the country

A politician and a former minister of transitional federal government of Somalia described the death of Al-shabab leader Ahmed Abdi Godane as an opportunity to speed up the ongoing Indian ocean operation against Al-shabab.

The former  minister for national national security Abdisamad Moalim Mohamud stated the killing of Godane will pave way for federal government to maintain the overall security of the country.

He added that the federal government will overcome many challenges including the plots of al-shabab and its leaders in Somalia and the region.

He called the federal government to intensify the offensive military operations and prevent the planned assassinations and attacks of the group.

This comes a time when Al-shabab confirmed the death of its leader Ahmed Abdi Godane and vowed revenge.

Also Al-shabab appointed Ahmed Omar Abu Ubaidha was appointed as the new leader(emir) of the group.
