Somali government troops have killed four senior figures of Al-Shabaab group  in Somalia in raid by Somali special forces.

According to SONNA , the elite forces backed international ally have bombarded a house at Toortoorow location in the lower shabell region of Somalia, where Al-Shabaab commanders were killed.

The officers commanding the operation have confirmed that they have killed 4 senior Al-Shabab leaders including the head of Al-Shabaab in the lower Shabelle.

The development cames hours after unidentified fighter jets pounded a base, run by Somalia’s Al-Shabaab fighters in Lower Shabelle region.

Local residents said on Monday the missiles fired by the warplanes on Sunday night struck the village controlled by Al-Shabaab near Qoryooley town.

“We heard several blasts on the outskirts of Qoryooley on Sunday night. We can’t confirm how many people died in the attacks,” said local resident Ibrahim Hassan.

Somali government in Mogadishu has been battling Al-Shabab for the past eight years and is propped up by 22,000-strong African Union force from Uganda, Burundi, and Djibouti, Ethiopia and Kenya.
