GOOBJOOG NEWS/GAROWE: six soldiers were killed and 7 others wounded in a fatal road accident involving a motorcade escorting Puntland president Abdullahi Said Deni, as he headed to Garowe from Bossaso.

The Monday incident took place when one of the vehicles said to be driven at high speed rolled over in the vicinity of Karin-dhiig hill between Dangoroyo district and Libaaho villages in Nugal region.

According to witnesses, the injured soldiers were rushed to hospitals in the region’s capital, Garowe.

The accident took place as Deni was returning from Bosaso, where he had gone to resolve disputes between him and sacked Puntland Security Forces commandant Mohamed Diyano and to oversee elections for 16 seats that were held on Sunday at the coastal city.

Just recently, two soldiers in Deni’s convoy to Bossaso were killed and three others were injured, after Al-Shabaab detonated a roadside bomb which the group said targeted the Puntland Head of State.
