Four ‘government officials’ executed by Shabaab in L. Shabelle

Four men were publicly executed by the militant group Al-Shabaab Sunday in Sablale, Lower Shabelle region on grounds they were government officials.

The four were paraded in a public square and fired at by the militants as members of the locality were compelled to watch the execution.

The four men were identified as: Hassan Osman Ali (Abayle) said to be a member of government forces based in Barawe district, Hussein Hassan Guelleh, also a government soldier. Guelleh is reported to have been captured in Daaraha neighbourhood near Qoryooley in Lower Shabelle region.

Also executed was Ayub Hassan Burale reportedly a member of the district administration in Kuntuwaarey and Hassan Mohamed Farah a Federal Government said to have been captured while travelling to Bulo Burde district in Hiiraan region.

Al-Shabaab has conducted such executions on people perceived to be affiliated to the government and even its won which it suspects to be passing intelligence to the government or other international forces fighting the group.
