GOOBJOOG NEWS|KISMAYO: Fugitive Jubbaland Security Minister Abdirashid Janan has been sacked as part of a trade off in UN mediated talks between outgoing President Mohamed Farmaajo and the Jubbaland-Puntland axis.

A letter dated March 20 indicates that Janan who is wanted by Mogadishu for alleged human rights violations and escape from custody was fired by President Ahmed Madobe ‘in consultation  with the Vice President’.
UN envoy in Somalia James Swan has in the last few days been mediating a deal between Farmaajo and his two political enemies- Madobe and Abdullahi Deni of Puntland.
The two FMS leaders are part of the opposition alliance National Salvation Forum which is also comprised of 15 presidential candidates and Somali pro-union leaders.
It is not clear however if the deal involves the handover of Janan to the Federal Government. The wanted minister escaped from custody in Mogadishu early last year and later engaged federal forces in a deadly fight in Gedo region which resulted in deaths. Somalia later accused Kenya of supporting Janan whose forces crossed into the Kenyan side.
