Galeyr: Ethiopia sent written and verbal apologies to resolve its difference with Khatumo

The newly elected president of Khatumo state in Northern Somalia Ali Khalif Galeyr giving exclusive interview to Goobjoog FM stated that Khatumo state has good relations with Ethiopia despite claims that he was forced to leave Ethiopia during the opening of a Conference on Federalism sponsored by Horn Economic and Social policy Institute(HESPI)

He said that there were differences between Khatumo state and Ethiopia but the government of Ethiopia has sent written and verbal apologies to him and the discord was resolved.

Mr.Galeyr noted that he has not attended the federalism conference in Addis Ababa but senior Khatumo officials represented him till the end of the meeting.

On the other hand president Khalif distanced the claims that he sought refuge in Ethiopia during the takeover of Sahdheer locality, Khatumo seat by Somaliland forces during his inauguration ceremony.

Finally he underlined Khatumo administration has important bases in Ethiopia adding that his administration is willing to live peacefully with the neighbouring administrations in Somalia and the surrounding countries including Ethiopia.

He stated that he got official invitation from the government of Ethiopia and he will meet Ethiopian leaders after he returns from his trip to USA.
