GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Talks to resolve the ongoing feuds between Prime Minister Mohamed Roble and outgoing president Mohamed Farmaajo hit a brick wall after the two sides failed to agree amid accusations against Farmaajo for stonewalling.

Galmudug state minister Omar Shido claimed that his side faced resistance from the Farmaajo faction leading to the collapse of the talks aimed at resolving the differences between the country’s top leaders that has escalated in recent weeks.

“Despite the efforts of the President of Galmudug, which has gone through many stages, sometimes lasting almost 18 hours, the conference ended in failure, with PM Roble’s wing showing maturity while the other side posed a major challenge,” Shido said.

The collapse of the talks which have been spearheaded by Galmudug president Ahmed Qoorqoor and his South West state counterpart Abdiasis Lafta Gareen puts the fate of elections in the balance as the two sides take different paths.

Meanwhile, the international community has pressed the two leaders to set aside their difference and join hands in preparations for elections and the fight against Al-Shabaab.
