Galmudug president Haaf announces 22 member cabinet

Galmudug president Ahmed Duale Haaf has appointed a 22 member cabinet with a similar number of deputies.

The ministers who have to be approved by the state assembly become the first under the new leader who was elected in May following the resignation of former president Abdikarin Guled.

The ministers include former ministers who served in the Guled administration assigned new porfolios. The state assembly this past week warned president Haaf against inclusion of former ministers noting they will not approve them when tabled in the assembly.

Galmudug state house director Mohamed Abdi Adan announced the new cabinet in a media briefing Tuesday evening.  “The President of Galmudug today 21/8/2017 produced a presidential decree ref. 171 nominating the cabinet ministers of Galmudug state following Article 50, clause 4 which states the need to accelerate the nomination of the cabinet ministers, consideration in respect to the limitation of time and the vast operations in reconciliation process, acknowledging the tasks on the table in Galmudug state, in consultation with the Deputy President of Galmudug, he decreed the  nomination of the state ministers” Adan said.
