The president of the Galmudug administration, Ahmed Dualle Geelle Haaf is set to be inaugurated today in Adado town close to a month after he was elected by the Galmudug assembly in a highly contested election.

Preparations are in high gear for the inauguration ceremony which will be attended by a section of the top leaders in the country.

Parliamentarians in the federal assembly in Mogadishu, delegates from other administration in the country and invited guests are set to attend the function.

A delegation led Somali interior minister, Abdi Farah juxa on Sunday reached Adado town to attend the inauguration of newly elected Galmudug president.

President Haaf was elected on May 3 by Galmudug state MPs following the resignation of former leader Abdikarim Hussein Guled in last February over health issues.

On the streets of Adado, security is tight and officers from Galmudug security forces could be seen patrolling the streets to ward off any attempted attack by Al Shabaab fighters.

Somalia’s political commentators maintain that a meaningful and genuine political dialogue in the region is necessary as Ahlu-Suna waljama’a, Somalia’s moderate Islamist group which controls the designated capital of Galmudug, Dhusamareb, rejected to recognize the regional government led by president Geelle.

Ahlusunna and Galmudug talks brokered by Somalia’s federal government collapsed last month following disagreement between the sides on the agenda.

Meanwhile, Ahlu Sunna neither comment on the issue of the failed power-share talks nor the election of president, Geelle.
