Galmudug state to spend $27 million in 2021/22 financial year

GOOBJOOG NEWS|GALMUDUG: Galmudug state will spend $27 million in the 2021/22 financial year, a newly approved state budget reveals.

According to the budget signed by president Ahmed Qoorqoor on June 24 following its passage by the state parliament, the central Somalia government intends to fund most of the expenditure through international donor support.

Internal revenue which is either from income or business taxes accounts for 26% ($7 million) of the total budget. The Federal Government contributes $1.8 million while international donor support from multilateral donors including the World Bank and aid agencies are expected to inject $14 million.

In terms of budget distribution, the Ministry of Security gets the lion share ($4.9 million) which translates to 18% of the total budget followed by the Ministry of Finance which gets $3.7 million (14) and the Office of the President which closes the double-digit percentage with $3.6 million (13%).

Others are the Ministry of Education and Culture ($2.3 million), Health and Community Care ($1.5 million) and Ministry of Water and Energy ($794,000). All other ministries, departments and agencies each get 1% of the total budget allocation.
