Goobjoog Television (sister channel to Goobjoog News) news producer Hanad Ali Guled was Saturday morning kidnapped by hooded men outside him home, the family has confirmed.

A family member told Goobjoog News Guled was picked by masked men as he left his home for work in the morning and that in his last communication he said he had been locked in a small room.

“He called to say he had been held in a small room. We do not have any more information,” a family member said.

One of his colleagues told Goobjoog News Guled had received threats to his life a day before but it was not clear from where. The threats, his colleagues note was over his involvement in drought relief campaigns which he has been conducting under the Media for Aid outfit. Guled is a co-founder of Media for Aid.

Goobjoog News is calling for Guled’s immediate release.
