President Mohamud makes first two appointments hours after taking office

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud made two appointments hours after he was officially declared Somalia’s 10th President in a brief handover ceremony at The Villa Somalia on Monday.

The President appointed Hussein Sheikh Mohamud as the new Chief of Staff at The Villa Somalia. 

Hussein Sheikh Mohamud, a former senator in the 10th Parliament, was also the Secretary-General of the constitutional review committee for both houses of the 10th Parliament. He holds a Master’s Degree in Development Studies and is currently pursuing a PhD in Peace and Public Administration.

The President also picked Mohamed Amin Sheikh Osman as the new Deputy Chief of Staff at The Villa Somalia.

Mohamed Amin Sheikh Osman Amin, also a former Senator in the Upper House and Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee of the House, also served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Somali embassy in Kenya. Hussein Sheikh Ali also made a comeback to the National Security docket. Ali served in the same position during the reign of president Mohamud between 2012 and 2017. 

While issuing the appointments, the new President wished them well in their new posts and urged them to serve the nation efficiently and with integrity.
