Health Minister says not aware why Ministry’s finance boss was arrested

Health Minister Fawziya Abikar has denied knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the arrest of the Ministry’s Finance Director Mohamud Bulle but noted investigations by relevant authorities were underway.

Addressing journalists Tuesday, Dr. Abikar (pictured) confirmed the arrest of Bulle on April 4 but indicated she did know the reasons behind his arrest.

“Mohamud Mohamed Bulle, director of administration and finance of the Ministry of Health, was arrested April 4th at nine o’clock in the evening. So far, the ministry has not been informed of the arrest, and numerous investigations are underway and the ministry is working on the matter,” the minister said.

She added her ministry was ready to cooperate with the investigating agencies on any matter relating to the investigations.

There was no word yet from the police regarding Bulle’s arrest but unconfirmed sources said the arrest was connected to mismanagement of funds within the ministry.
