Inter-clan fighting breaks out in troubled Marka

Reports from the port town of Marka indicate that at least three persons have died after the breakout of inter-clan fighting there.

Heavy fire exchange could be heard from the Wan Cuneyna suburb which falls the outskirts of the town.

The fighting has been ignited by the killing of one person by one clan, prompting the other to launch reprisal attack.

The town has in the past seen such clan skirmishes which claimed many lives and there is yet a tangible reconciliation.

Recently Marka was in the news after AMISOM troops based there were accused of extrajudicial killings of civilians, a charge denied by AMISOM and the government said its investigating.
