Inter-ministerial probe team summons five military commanders for alleged role in blockade of PM Roble

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: An inter-ministerial committee formed by Prime Minister Mohamed Roble ha summoned five military commanders for their alleged role in blocking the PM from accessing his office on December 27.

The committee chaired by Defence Minister Abdikadir Mohamed Nur Jama directed SNA chief of staff Gen. Odowaa Rage to facilitate the appearance of the five officers on or before January 8. The officers are drawn from the 77th Battalion within the Somali National Army and are responsible for the PM’s security.

The PM described the blockade as an attempted coup and blamed it on outgoing President Mohamed Farmaajo. During the blockade, the PM, alongside some ministers walked on foot to his office.

The following officers have been summoned by the commission of inquiry appointed by the Prime Minister:

  1. Colonel Hassan Aden Dhis, Commander of the 77th Battalion.
  2. Major Shafi’i Nur Ahmed Commander of the 77th Battalion.
  3. Lieutenant Colonel Abdi Yasin Ali Kooshin Commander of the 60th Regiment of the 77th Battalion.
  4. Major Hassan Duwane Omar Commander of the 60th Regiment
  5. Major Muse Mohamed Addow (Sharib) Commander of the 60th Emergency Response Team
