Interim Juba administration forces and AMISOM troops advance to Jilib district

Somali National Army and AMISOM troops began operations to seize Jilib town in Lower Jubba region. The troops advanced from Bula-Gaduud.
Government officials confirmed the move and tells that joint forces are now preparing to move to Al-shabab controlled areas in the region to cut their tax collection sites.
Last month Somali National Army (SNA) together with African Union peace-keeping troops have registered more success against the Al-Shabab, with the capture of Bula-Gaduud town in the Lower Juba Region.
Somali government forces backed by the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) troops have captured several towns and villages from Al-Shabab since their latest offensive, Operation Indian Ocean began August 30th.
