January 1, 2016: Turkish national working for a construction company was wounded when he was attacked while leaving a mosque after prayers by gunmen in a speeding car.

January 1, 2016: Renewed tribal clashes were this morning reported in Buq-matoor town near Beledweyne after two the sides that recently fought in Beledweyne fought again. Up to six people were reported dead while several others were injured in the clashes.

January 2, 2016: Three people including the suicide bomber have so far been confirmed dead in an early morning blast targeting Village restaurant in Mogadishu.

January 3, 2016: January 3, 2016- Somali government troops have fought each other in former Al Shabab stronghold in southern barawe Somalia according to officials and residents. Five fighters from the warring sides have been killed in the deadly confrontation.

January 3, 2016:  Al-Shabab allegedly killed two traders identified as Mahdi Muse and Sool Sa’ad Hussein in areas under El-Bur district according El-Bur district commissioner, Abdi Hassan Mohamed.

January 4, 2016: Gunmen tried to assassinate Galmudug’s assistant minister of transport Abdisamad Yusuf Elmi in Mogadishu’s Wabri district.

Speaking to the media Elmi said that he has survived an assassination attempt by gunmen who attacked his car in the city.

“We were surprised by a lot of bullets … Thank God, we managed to escape,” he said.

january 4, 2016: Huge roadside bomb explosion targeting African Union Mission for Somalia (AMISOM) vehicle has wounded at least 3 people in Leego town in Lower Shabelle region, witnesses said.

January 5- 2016: At least one person was killed and another was wounded when heavily armed unknown gunmen attacked a compound near Mogadishu airport that housing Turkish nationals.

January 6, 2016: Three children were killed after unexploded ordnance they were playing with went off in Balli-Burse village of Somalia’s Northern Sanaag region.

Junuary 6, 2015:  Pistol-wielding assailants shot and wounded a woman working for FAVORI, a Turkish company which runs Mogadishu international airport.

The woman whose name was not indentified was wounded after she was attacked by two gunmen near her house at Mogadishu’s Wardhigley district while heading to the airport.

January 6, 2016: Four traditional elders were this morning shot dead by Ethiopian forces in Rabdhuure town in Bakool region.

Sources told the media heavily armed members of the Ethiopian forces picked the elders one by one from their homes before executing them in the outskirts of Rabdhuure town.

January 6, 2016: Former Al-Shabab commander Hariye Ali who has surrendered to Somali National Army (SNA) in Gedo region in 2015 has been shot dead in Bardere town on Wednesday night.

January 6, 2016: A group of police officers engaged in a gunfight with army soldiers in Mogadishu’s Hodon district. Witnesses reported at least two people dead in the armed confrontation that lasted two hours.

The deadly gunfight flared in Kay zone neighborhood in Hodon district.

January 6,-2016: People were killed including 10 members of the Interim south west Somalia state forces in a fierce gun battle in Goof gaduud location.

Sources say the clashes started after Al-Shabab raided the government forces base in the town which is located 30km northern Baidoa.

 

January 6,-2016: At least ten Somali National Army soldiers were killed and 12 wounded when Al-Shabab raided an army base near the strategic town of Baidoa, the regional capital of Baay, residents said.

January 7, 2016: SNA soldiers allegedly killed four suspected Al-Shabab fighters who were under the custody of Somali government in Rabdhuure locality.

January 8, 2016: A soldier serving under Gamudug has opened fire on a vehicle carrying state minister, Omar Sheikh Ahmed and naval forces commander in the central town of Adado town.

The minister reportedly sustained light injuries from the attack.

January 8, 2016: Unidentified attackers have beaten up and wounded a Somali journalist in northern Somalia, the latest in series of attacks against media workers in the horn of Africa nation.

Hussein Hassan Adde, a reporter for the Puntland TV based in Buhodle town has got head injuries sustained during the attack.

January 9, 2015: At least one woman confirmed dead and five others sustained injuries after Gunmen clad in SNA uniform opened fire on a civilian bus in Warsheikh town.

January 9, 2016: Twenty people were injured in grisly car accident that occurred in the outskirt of El-Dhere locality which is not far away from Dhusamareeb town of Galgaduud region.

January 10, 2016: Car explosion killed SNA officer and wounded another on Shibis district of Mogadishu.

January 10, 2016: One Soldier confirmed dead and another one injured in Bardhere police station after clash with other soldiers who were allegedly trying to take away suspected Al-Shabab fighter held in the police cell.

Local resident near the police station said that several attacked the police station in the town on Monday morning, triggering a gunfight.

“The attack took place at around 9:50 a.m. when several soldiers engaged with police personnel after arriving by a car near the police station in the town,” the resident told Goobjoog News anonymously.

January 10, 2015: Senior official were working for Adan Adde International Airport was targeted in a car bomb. An officer identified as Charles has been injured when the bomb attack.

10-1-16: At least one government official was killed and another was wounded in a car bomb attack in Shibis district north of Mogadishu.

January 11, 2016: Afgooye Roadside bomb blast exploding outside Mogadishu has killed at least 2 people and wounded 2 others.

The explosion went off near at orphanage center area in Afgooye town, just situated about 30Km south of Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.

The victims who lost their lives in the blast, included Sheikh Abukar , a well-known businessman.

January 13, 2016: Six people have been reportedly killed in a heavy battle between government troops and Al-Shabab militants outside Elbuur town in central Somalia, witnesses said.

The fighting erupted in El-Shiil village, about 18Km from Elbuur town after armed militants attacked gov’t troops in town, killing at least six soldiers, witnesses said.

14-1- 2016:  Soldiers serving under AMISOM – African Union mission in Somalia have been accused of killing an innocent civilian at Golweyn village near Bulo-Mareer in Somalia’s Lower Shabelle region.

The residents in Lower Shabelle region accused AMISOM of committing atrocities, including robbery, torture and arrests against unarmed civilians living in the areas under AU and SNA troops’ control.

January 17, 2016: At three civilians killed in airstrike carried out by Kenyan warplane in Sanose locality near el-adde town

January 17, 2016: Two government soldiers reportedly killed in Dharkeynley district by unidentified gunmen.

January 19, 2016: At least 17 people killed and over thirty injured in airstrikes carried out by Kenyan war planes according colonel Adan Ahmed Hirsi.

January 20, 2016: seven people have been killed after Kenyan fighter jets reportedly bombed residential areas in south of Somalia’s Gedo region, witness and elders said.

January 21, 2016: Government soldier killed a civilian in Hamarweyne district, the reason why the soldier killed the innocent civilian remains unclear.

January 21, 2016: At least 20 people have died and 40 other injured in a attack in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu. A siege at a beachfront restaurant in the capital Mogadishu ended after more than eight hours.

January 23, 2016: Twelve people killed in airstrike carried out by Kenyan war planes following Al-Shabab’s attack on El-Adde military base where the group claimed to have killed over fifty soldiers.

January 25, 2016: Tension reported in Ato town following the arrest of nearly twenty local residents by Ethiopia’ Liyu police who crossed the border illegally and raided villages in Bakool region.

Confirming the incident, a regional state assembly lawmaker Dubad Mohamed said the imprisonment of residents came after they expressed their strong support to interim South West state based in Baidoa.

January 25, 2016: Reports reaching us from Marko indicate that unknown gunmen have shot dead a civilian in the southern coastal town on Monday morning.

Eyewitness said hooded pistol-wielding men assassinates the man who name was indentifies as Sadik at the city’s money exchange market. The executioners managed to escape the scene unscathed.

January 26, 2016: Unidentified gunmen armed pistol shot dead a man in Mogadishu’s main market Bakaaro

January 27, 2016: Kenyan soldiers have allegedly killed El-Adde district commissioner, Abdirashid Ali Abdi Qoorleeh in Likooley town of Gedo region.

Reliable sources say said the administrator was arrested by the KDF immediately after the 15th January attack in which Al-Shabab claimed to killed more than 100 soldiers.

January 30, 2016: Bardhere magistrate Sheikh Ibrahim Noor Sha’ban has escaped an attempt on his life after he was attacked by unknown gunmen while wailing out a mosque after Magrib prayers.

The judge was slightly wounded in the attack by the assailants according Bardhere district commissioner.

January 30, 2016:  SNA soldier opens fire on civilians in Hamar-weyne district. Three people were reportedly injured in the incident.
