Jubbaland TV journalist injured in Beletweyne bomb attack succumbs to injuries

Jubbaland TV reporter who was injured in the Beletweyne suicide bomb attack Sunday has succumbed to injuries in a Mogadishu hospital.

Abdullahi Osman Maalim Adan who was among three journalists injured in the deadly bomb explosion outside the regional headquarters offices died Wednesday morning in Digfer Hospital in what sources said was a result of severe head injury.

He had been admitted at the intensive care unit at Digfer hospital after being attended to at an Amisom medical hospital in Beletweyne.

Adan becomes the first journalist to die in the line of duty this year. Three journalists died in 2016 bringing to 8 the number of journalists killed in Somalia since 2015.

Adan leaves behind a wife and a daughter.
