June 7, 2015: The administration of Barire details the operation conducted by Somali National Army to beef up the security of the area.
Barire district officer, Mohamed Ali speaking to Goobjoog News said that the security of the locality has seen progress after massive sweep which netted several elements who were involving anti peace activities.
June 9, 2015: Traditional elders in Baidoa, oppose South West presidential degree to appoint Badoa mayor and Bay governor, Elders claimed that they were not consulted on the appointment of the two leaders.
June 10, 2015: South West has pulled their socks up help Somali returnees from Yemen and give them resettlement, food and medical assistance.
South west state commenced campaign to resettle Somalis from Yemen.
June 13, 2015: Intense fighting erupts between Somali National Army and Al-Shabab fighters in the outskirt of Tiyeglow district of Bakol.
The brawl costs several fighters from both sides.
June 14, 2015:Security forces In Baidoa launches a new disarmament campaign and operations which netted some illegal weapon.
Sandheere Mohamed Iftin, deputy Administration Police (AP) commissioner, has told Goobjoog News that the security forces and the police force have disarmed those who caused havoc in the town.
The security forces engulfed Isha’s Baidoa suburb during the inspection and raided homes as they discovered guns that commanders said were going to be use to insecurity cases.
June 15, 2015:The administration of Interim South-West commences a process of replacing government appointed district commissioners and district officers who were operating South West Territorial reach.
President Sharif Hassan has issued decrees to appoint new district commissioners for Marka and Afgooye towns.
South-west minister for interior, Abdirahman Sate addressed the reason behind the replacements saying “This is a part of the plans of the state government to set up competent administration and the reshuffles will be continuous”
June 16, 2015: The administration of South-West has commented on massive operations to beef up the security of Baidoa, the administrative capital and that its forces are in their final preparation to wage war against Al-shabab.
South West minister for security, Abdifatah Gasey says that the security operations are meant to tighten the security and foiling of planned attacks after the security forces were tipped off.
The security forces backed by African Union peace-keeping (AMISOM) troops comb suburbs of Baidoa as they conduct door to door inspections.
Operations curtail the movement of people and public transport as the soldiers cordon off the main roads of the town.
June 17, 2015: South West sends stern warning to its soldiers on selling the state owned weapons including riffles and ammunitions given them to defend the land.
Minister of Disarmament, Rehabilitation and Training of militias, Hassan Hussein Hassan attending training course graduation ceremony held Qansah-dhere town, says that the regional government would have zero tolerance on those selling the entrusted property and anyone found guilty would be prosecuted.
June 25, 2015: Heavy fighting embarks between Al-Shabab fighters and Somali government soldiers in areas under Qoryooley district afterAlshabab carried out attacks on SNA military base, according senior official, Mohamed Sheikh Osman.
June 26, 2015: At least 70 Burundian soldiers have been killed after Shabab militant group attacked an African Union Mission base in Lego locality, southern Somalia
The attack began at dawn, when Al-Shabab fighters detonated a car bomb at the entrance of the base in Lego, about 75 miles south of Mogadishu and fought their way into base. They eventually run over the base.
June 29, 2015: Somali National Army soldiers withdraw from their military base at Afgoye high School which they have been residing for the last three years.
Residents in Afgoye town of Lower Shabelle are happy about the new development as the school reopened after schooling was disrupted for three years.
