Lower House brushes aside the removal of impunity from two of its members

An outcome released by the Leadership of the House Council today in relation to the request by the office of the attorney general of removing impunity from MPs Hassan Maalin Mohamud and Abdinasir Noor Shuriye has been thrown out by the house.

First the house council leadership proposed that until the passage of the law on Article 70 clause (4) of the federal constitution, they decided to stop the proposal on removing the impunity of the two MPs.

Second as stated in the activity plans of October 2017 of the Lower House, the House is ordered to start the passage of the draft law especially on impunity of Article 70 clause (4) of the constitution as soon as possible.

Third similarly the house council leadership is ordering the federal ministry of Justice to present members of the Judiciary Service Commission to the Lower House in full.

Fourth on similar level, house committee on judiciary and Endowments and Religious Affairs is ordered to collaborate with the ministry in order to pass bill 23 relating to establishing the above department without their existence, the country cannot have an independent judiciary in tandem with the federal system which applied by the country to possess confidence to execute decision(s) on matters having nationwide effect on the country.

On 21st December 2017 the Attorney General Ahmed Ali Dahir briefly addressed the Lower House council leadership in order to present and share with them evidences to convince them on his earlier request on 19th December 2017 but was taciturn on his information due to the reservation on the right to divulge them.

On 17th December 2017 addressing the media, the attorney general noted to have submitted an application to the Lower House on the two MPs to be removed of their impunity to face the law whom he accused them of an act of treason and illegal mobilization.
