Lower shabelle administration meets AMISOM on the increase of checkpoints in region

Interim South-west State leaders and Africa Union Peace Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) officials  have discussed on increasing illegal road barriers in areas under South-West State which led negative impacts on the passengers and public vehicles.
Lower Shabelle governor, Abdikadir Mohamed Noor Sidii who gave exclusive interview to Goobjoog News said that they hold talks with AMISOM officials on the increased number of roadblocks where the drivers are forced to pay large amounts of money they cannot afford by men dressed in military uniform.
He said security operations to weep out roadblock will be carried out in a response to complaints coming from the owners and drivers using road linking Mogadishu and Baidoa where the passengers are subjected to harassment, rape and theft.
Federal government forces have conducted heavy operation to clean up illegal roadblocks set up by armed militias in the Lower Shabelle region due to constant complaints by the drivers and transport owners but the illegal checkpoints are on the increase day after day.
