Madobe meets with Somali top chiefs and ATMIS officials ahead of Sunday’s polls

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Lower House speaker Sheikh Adan Madobe alongside Upper House speaker Abdi Hashi Abdullahi today held a meeting with Somali Police commanders and African Transition Mission In Somalia (ATMIS) officials in Mogadishu, ahead of Sunday’s presidential polls.

The meeting discussed the security arrangements for Sunday’s presidential election. Earlier today, the Somali Police Command issued a statement saying that the country’s capital, Mogadishu, will be under curfew starting Saturday 9.00pm until Monday 6.00am.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Fiona Lortan, the Commander-in-Chief of the Sector1 Maj. Gen. William Shume, Commander-in-Chief of the Somali Police Force Abdi Hassan Mohamed Hijar and senior officials from the ATMIS operation and the Somali Police.
