GOOBJOOG NEWS|KISMAYO: Jubbaland president Ahmed Madobe has made a major reshuffle in his cabinet, the first one since he was re-elected in September 2019.

The Jubbaland leader brought in eight new ministers in a cabinet which also comprises 22 deputy ministers and 23 state ministers.

Notable in the changes is the replacement of former internal security minister Abdirashid Janan who defected to the Federal Government following a year-long battle in the Gedo region.

Madobe picked General Yusuf Hussein Osman from Janan’s sub-clan to lead the security docket. Also replaced is former constitutional affairs minister Aw Hersi who also became a critic of Madobe and shifted loyalties to Mogadishu.

Madobe has been at loggerheads with Villa Somalia especially since his re-election which was bitterly opposed by Mogadishu. The Federal Government later changed its stance announcing it had recognized Madobe as the duly elected leader of Jubbaland.
