Mahaday residents face dire living conditions

Dire humanitarian conditions are reported from Mahaday district of middle Shabelle region after floods of river Shabelle devastated the agricultural lands.

Hundreds of people displaced by the floods are in poor conditions in need of emergency support as officials confirm.

Speaking to Goobjoog FM Mahaday district commissioner Hassan Yarrow stated that due dire living conditions in the area the local people in Mahaday and surrounding areas started eating unripe fruits.

He noted that most of the families who fled their houses have not yet received any support from the federal government and humanitarian aid agencies in the region.

The commissioner called the aid agencies to immediately intervene and save the lives of the residents.
