Many people hospitalized in Barire locality due to Malaria outbreak

Many patients mostly under age children suffering from Malaria were hospitalized in Barire locality of Lower Shabelle region.

One of the elders in Barire locality Hussein Ali told Goobjoog FM that the number of the people suffering from Malaria  in the area increases day after day with no proper health centers to treat the patients.

The elder stated that the patients go as far as Afgoye district in the region to seek medical check-ups a move which is a bit difficult to most people especially the internally displaced persons in the area.

He called the federal government and humanitarian aid agencies to immediately respond to the malaria outbreak before it goes out of control and spread to other areas.

August this year Somalia’s ministry of health underlined that the increasing outbreak of Malaria is attributed to the parasite that has become resistant to the normal medication to treat people.
