Measles outbreak kills children in lower Shebelle Somalia

At least three children have died in the measles outbreak in Raage-ceyle district in the Lower Shebelle region, reports say that more than 30 children are currently affected with the disease.

Raage-ceyle district was reported to be among areas where the measles has spread affecting more than 30 children and killed 3 according to the district commissioner.

Omar Ali, a district commissioner told Goobjoog News that in the last days, several children have fallen ill due to the disease and lack of proper health services and centres to treat the affected children in the area.

“So far this year, more than 30 children have been infected with up to three deaths, and they do not have any care, and these health centres don’t have enough healthcare facilities.

Omar urged the Somali federal government and the international organizations to provide immediate response to the victims of the measles outbreak in the region
