The National Army Trust Fund suffered another blow Monday after one of its committee members Mohamed Tigay resigned citing lack of independence and cohesion in the committee.

“I have resigned my position from the Fund owing to lack of independence, cohesion and respect,” Tigay said in a Facebook post.

His exit follows the resignation of Gen. Jama Mohamed Qalib shortly after his appointment in July in what he termed as lack of consultation by the Prime Minister’s office and busy schedule.

Tigay, a former commissioner in Mudug region of Puntland was appointed in a recent presidential decree to serve in the Fund which aims at providing welfare support to the Somali National Army.

General Ahmed Jama Muse is the current chair of the Fund.

The committee held a meeting with Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre Sunday where they discussed the activities of the organization according to a document released from the office of the Premier.
