National Army attack Al-Shabaab bases in Masagawa, Galgaduud region

GOOBJOOG NEWS | GALGUDUD: The Somali National Army have carried out attacks against Al-Shabaab bases in Masagawa, in the central region of Galgudud inflicting major losses on the militants.

According to Army officials, the attacks were targeted at the militant’s bases which were destroyed forcing them to flee from the area.

This latest counter-terrorism operation comes a few hours after the National Intelligence and Security Forces together with regional forces carried out a similar operation in Lower Shebelle region killing more than 20 Al-Shabaab militants including their top leaders and injuring several others.

Military officials said the militants had convened on Thursday at a forest in the region to plan attacks on civilians before the National Intelligence thwarted their plans.

The Federal Government of Somalia has maintained that the ongoing operation against the Al-Shabaab militants will not stop until the entire country is liberated.
