One dead, 3 injured as mortar shells hit Barawe

GOOBJOOG NEWS/BARAWE: Reports from Barawe town in the Lower Shabelle region say that multiple mortar shells have hit the Parliamentary Election Centre, which is the venue for today’s elections.

According to locals who spoke to the media, three mortar shells were heard, two of which hit Dayan neighborhood in Barawe.

One person, a woman, was reportedly killed and three other people were injured in the shelling when elections for the 11th House of the People are underway.

The attack happens even as the city hosts hundreds of AMISOM troops and security forces drawn from the South West state.
