One dead as armed militia open fire on a minibus near Bal’ad town

At least one person died and two others sustained injuries after armed group opened fire on truck near Afgoye.

The wounded civilians were rushed to the nearby hospitals in Bal’ad district.

The bus was attacked by armed militia who set illegal roadblock near Bal’ad town where the passengers are usually robbed and drivers are forced to pay large amount of money.

Our correspondent in Middle Shabelle region says the armed dressed in military uniform usually set increasing roadblocks that hampers the normal transportation in the region.

The administration of Bal’ad district has declined to give comment about incident despite promising to take action against the illegal checkpoints.

Recently bus owners and drivers operating in the road between Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia and the neighboring region of Middle Shabelle have vowed to go on strike if the government does not remove the illegal roadblocks set up by armed .
