Storyline:National News

A private Toyota Hilux has been attacked by heavily armed assailants at Shiekh Barrow on Mandera-Lafey Road as one woman killed due to the sporadic shots on Saturday night.

The passengers were coming back from a funeral at Lafey to Mandera, however, it was established that one Dr.Ahmed Kashif who started working for Mandera County Government barely four months has fled as the vehicle was under attack with three other close relatives.

However area MCA Saad Shiekh said the Rapid Border Patrol Unit which is stationed towards Kabo less than 10kms away and Military base at Damassa should be relocated towards Shiekh Barow.

“While I condemn this barbaric cowardly acts, it is worth noting that our officers are simply engaged in goalkeeping within the peripheries of their camps. They can not at any one time respond to these incessant incidents within this area. If that is the case they should decamp and leave us to ruins as they are doing now”, Saad added.

Mandera Township MCA Feisal registered his frustrations with the luck of instant rescue operations when such events happen in the region also lampooned the government on recent beatings by KDF in the region.

“It’s almost 2hours no rescue or intervention from the Government security apparatus we know kindly appeal to the special team that invaded Harwale to speed to the site and save this Kenyans under siege in our own Kenya soil. ” Feisal said.
