One killed, two injured following shoot-out between security forces and Al-Shabaab militants

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: A clash between Somali  security forces and Al-Shabaab militants erupted Monday night in parts of Heliwaa district in Banadir region, causing death and injuries to innocent civilians.

Fighting erupted after members of Al-Shabaab launched an assault on a police station in an area called Ali Agoon in the district of Heliwaa, prompting a fierce response from the Somali government security forces.

The shoot-out lasted for almost an hour, but not without causing casualties. One person, a woman who was reported to have been selling milk, was caught in the crossfire that left her dead, while another woman and a child were injured.

There is still no word from authorities in the Benadir region regarding the incident, but there are reports that security forces are currently on high alert in the neighborhoods where last night’s attack took place.
