Over 50 Al-Shabaab militants killed in Lower Jubba

GOOBJOOG NEWS | LOWER JUBBA: Over 50 Al-shabaab militants have been killed in Lower Jubba region in a joint operation by the Danaab commandos and local forces.

Among those killed in the operation was the militant’s head of Finance in Weel-Maarow area, approximately 45km northeast of Afmadow town.

The security forces also captured several militiamen, weapons, and vehicles during the operation.

This latest operation follows a recent successful aerial and ground attack by the Somali National Army (SNA) with international support in Welmaro, a town 40 kilometers away from Afmadow in the Lower Juba region of Somalia.

The SNA and its international partners have intensified their operations against Al-Shabaab in recent months, in an effort to eradicate the group and restore peace and stability in the country.

The death of the head of finance in the Weel-Maarow area represents a significant blow to Al-Shabaab’s revenue streams.
