Parliament to continue debate on the 2022 budget

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The two houses of parliament will, on the second day running, hold a joint sitting to debate the 2022 federal budget which stands at $918.7M, approved by the cabinet last month.  

The Somali Finance Minister Abdirahman Dualeh Beyle appeared before the two chambers on Tuesday to answer to government budget expenditure as lawmakers discussed a nearly $1 billion budget for 2022. 

Members of the two houses pressed the Somali Minister of Finance, Abdirahman Duale Beyle, to explain why he had failed to audit his ministry during the four-year tenure of former president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and of the missing $ 193 million from the country’s coffers.
