Peter de Clercq “approximately 12,500 people have been displaced by conflict between Somaliland and Puntland in Tukaraq”

The United Nations Deputy Special Representative & Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia Peter de Clercq Told the VOA Somali service says the fighting between Somaliland and Puntland displaced thousands of people in Tukaraq.

In an interview with VOA Somali, The United Nations Deputy Special Representative & Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia Peter de Clercq says “approximately 12,500 people have been displaced by the current conflict in Tukaraq, says the situation could get worse if the two sides start fighting. Said Peter de Clercq

On the other hand, the United Nations Deputy Special Representative & Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia Peter de Clercq warns that situation in Tukaraq is “extremely tense” with no dialogue Somaliland and Puntland.

“Any misperception, any mistake on either side can easily result in fighting breaking out and as a result a major humanitarian suffering in the process,” says Peter de Clercq

On June 2, The Somaliland Government has refuted the United Nations call that said More than 150 thousands of people have been displaced, following recent fighting between Somaliland and Puntland forces.
